lead photos, unfortunate things, Mecca, rancid butter, headstands and spaghetti westerms
2002-01-24 8:01 p.m.

today is the only the second time since september 11 that i have seen my lead news photo has not been about terrorists or the Taliban or Afghanistan. The first time was when George Harrison the Beatle died. Today it was about the Enron corporation colapse.

For those of you that also read my guestbook, chris brings up a good point about how these racist songs and feelings were just 70 years ago and continued strong for about thirty more years and some still exist today. that really sucks.

Yesterday i was very busy, but many funny things happened.

In AP US History my teacher Mrs. Swedenborg said, "And i think they even tell them what direction Mecca is" in reference to US prisoners held in Cuba.

Shortly after our great current events discussion we started this movie called Inherit the Wind about evolution contreversy in the 1920s. This movie is hilarious (sp?). A quote from heart-throb Gene Kelly was,"I may be rancid butter, but i'm on your side of the bread"

then i was just finished with my dinner at 8pm yesterday when my mom said, "If i could i would do a handstand right now" but never explained why.

here is another great word

spaghetti western (spuh-GET-ee WES-tuhrn) noun

A cheap western movie produced in Italy or Spain, typically having Italian actors, an American star, and a generous dose of violence.

[From spaghetti (a pasta from Italy), western (a story/movie with 19th century US West setting).]

"Alone at night, she bobbed in a sea of spaghetti Westerns, make-my-day police dramas, and goofball comedies." Neil Chethik, A Hard Look at Losing Fathers, The Boston Globe, Nov 29, 2001.
