2002-06-12 8:37 p.m.

da-dat da da-dot, dot, da-dot

so i got my steel toed women's harley-davidson black boots for work today. they are amazing.

words words words:

ennui on-WEE, noun:

A feeling of weariness and dissatisfaction arising from lack of interest; boredom.

He glanced at his heavily laden bookshelves. Nothing there appealed to him. The ennui seemed to have settled into his very bones. --Amanda Quick, [1]With This Ring

He was often off sick or playing hooky and suffered from a kind of ennui, a mixture of listlessness and willful melancholy. --Elisabeth Roudinesco, [2]Jacques Lacan (translated by Barbara Bray)

Yet if she felt anything it was ennui,... the grey sky and the cold wind obliterating every impulse she might have felt to seek comfort in another climate, another landscape.--Anita Brookner, [3]Falling Slowly

He was ashamed and unhappy, adrift with a senseless ennui. --Brian Moynahan, [4]Rasputin: The Saint Who Sinned

Ennui is from the French, from Old French enui, "annoyance," from enuier, "to annoy, to bore," from the Latin phrase in odium, "in hatred or dislike."

tony (TO-nee) adjective

Having a high-toned manner; stylish.

[From tone.]

"(Masound) Aboughaddareh, 30, publishes DC One, a glossy, glitzy magazine dedicated to the tony nightclub scene." David A. Fahrenthold, Entrepreneurs Put Their Passions in Print, The Washington Post, Feb 10, 2001.

all the tony's i know are like this, so it is not as offensive as randy, however i am not sure about this Aboughaddareh, that is pretty shado.

ted (ted) verb tr.

To spread or strew for drying (newly mowed grass, for example).

[From Middle English tedde, from Old Norse tethja (to manure).]

"During the course of a year, a wedding and a funeral take place,

along with events such as the cutting and tedding of hay and the livestock auction on Monaghan Day." Jim Coan, By the Lake, Library Journal (New York), Apr 1, 2002.

well it doesn't get much better than tedding hay, that's what i always say, anyway. time to stop ryhming.

today is great b/c scott is on vaction and can not make noise to drive me insane. mom and dad with charming but superflous and almost annoying questions and comments are at the Indians game. now i will go and enjoy the quiet and read and relax, quietly.
