"a room without books is like a body without a soul" - Cicero
2006-03-07 12:26 p.m.

it has been like a desert in blogs these days.

here are some quotes from some books i have been reading. i like them and they make me think.

"Once in my father's bookshop, I heard a regular customer say that few things leave a deeper mark on a reader than the first book that finds its way into his heart." Daniel, p. 8 The Shadow of the Wind

"Books are mirrors: you only see in them what you already have inside you" Julian, p. 209 The Shadow of the Wind

"The art of reading is slowly dying, that it's an intimate ritual, that a book is a mirror that only offers us what we already carry inside us, that when we read, we do it with all our heart and mind, and great readers are becoming more scarce by the day" Bea, p. 484 The Shadow of the Wind

"I see her sit in the center of this web of wires like a watchful robot, tend to her network with mechanical insect skill, know every second which wire runs where and just what current to send up to get the results she wants" Chief describing Big Nurse, pg. 30 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
