LOG: The Radical Rally #2
2006-04-30 6:05 p.m.

30 April 2006

8:14 am we arise.

8:54 am we are getting ready to go, our hotel is in Fairfax, VA so we have about another 40 minutes until we arrive in Washington, DC

9:14 am there is a breakfast buffet but it costs $10 so we opt to go to Bob Evans.

10:00 am we finally arrive at Bob Evans. Tons of people here b/c it is Sunday morning. It is very hard to drive around here, the roads are confusing and lots of one way or no left turn or barriers. Tres annoying. The license plate in front of us at the last light said SNAAAKE

10:16 am after I directed a very small little girl (maybe 3 years old) back to her parents and said Good Bye she turned back to me and reached up her arms hugged my legs from under the railing outside of Bob Evans. How cute is that.

10:18 am our little friend is now hiding in the bushes

11:01 pm our 25 minute wait turned out to be an hour but we finally got a table. Our waiter whos name tag reads Ricky Ricardo [no joke] is totally awesome. He does not want to work at Bob Evans forever. He is going to school for massage therapy but he really wants to be a hip-hop dancer. I will say that the world does need more dancing, so rock on Ricky Ricardo.

1:22 pm We have made it to Washington, DC. It took a very long time to park because there was tons of charter busses everywhere. We are now on the Metro headed to the National Mall. The Jew from Israel sitting next to me right now is telling a story about how her grandfather traveled from Iraq to Egypt on a Camel. Sweet ass.

1:52 pm - we have worked our way through this enormous crowd to a nice spot next to the press box sort of toward the front.

2:44 pm best sign so far:

VEGAN JEWS AGAINST GENOCIDE

2:55 pm country band Big & Rich is playing and the crowd is performing the unison hand clap with the beat, which might be one of my biggest pet peeves of all time.

5:32 pm the rally is finally done, my feet numb. I thought it was only until 4, but Talya and Chris said it was supposed to go to 4:30, but it still went an hour over. It was worth it for sure.

6:01 pm other notable signs

WE WOULD DO IT IF IT WAS TEXAS

and

GENOCIDE IS UNCOOL

We are sad to find that it is too late, the Smithsonian Museums are closed. BOO!
