CA log is comming, it is short but sweet.

i would like to bring up this quote about Sarah Palin, and hopefully my Alaskan readers won't be too offended, but i have to admit that comming to Alaska as an outsider and learning about it, and helping one of my professors write a book about Alaska Politics, i agree completely:
How many times have you heard McCain promise to slash taxes and pay for it by eliminating unnecessary programs? And who better to help carry out that agenda than the governor of a state whose residents pay less taxes than anyplace else in the union due to their genius in making the federal government pay the tab for virtually everything?

average Alaskans (i.e. people not in my RD masters program) i have met are completely against taxes and enjoy getting paid by the state from the oil money permanent fund and complaining that they do not have enough roads or quality state services. so against taxes that legistlators are paralzed with fear to even suggest obtaining funds for roads and services this way because they will lose their voters. this to me is a no-brainer, taxes=roads and services. but it seems no taxes will win until the feds pull their funding and Alaska must provide for itself.

Rachel Maddow is just awesome. her radio is my favorite but now she even has her own show on MSNBC now, watch it on the 9 p.m. slot following Keith Olbermann week nights. anyway, i like this fan site because they keep track of most of her audio and video clips in one neat little place. hopefully i will link them here soon.
